Shopping

Chicago is a shopper’s paradise! You'll discover unique merchandise in boutiques scattered throughout the city's diverse neighborhoods, high end retailers that target big spenders and discount merchandise for those who can’t resist a great sale.

The Magnificent Mile offers hundreds of top retailers including four separate shopping centers. Oak Street is known for its upscale boutiques and specialty gift stores. State Street, located in the very heart of the city, is famous for landmark department stores and the Midwest's largest jewelry district. Armitage Avenue provides boutique shopping in the quaint tree-lined Lincoln Park neighborhood. Wicker Park/Bucktown delivers unique shopping adventures in a neighborhood that is known for its artsy-bohemian spirit.

THE MAGNIFICENT MILE

The Magnificent Mile offers 460 stores in eight city blocks. Beyond the Chicago favorites like American Girl, Crate & Barrel and Niketown, choose from delectable restaurants, unique shops and several museums and galleries to round out your day on the mile.

The 900 North Shops features Bloomingdale's Fashion department store, with six levels of upscale retailers, including several restaurants, full service salon and spa and a state-of-the-art fitness facility.

Water Tower Place at 835 North Michigan Avenue features Macy's and more than 100 popular stores. A unique themed food court and restaurant are also on the mezzanine level. Chicago Place at 700 North Michigan Avenue features Saks Fifth Avenue, over 50 unique stores, a beautiful floral shop and a food court on the scenic eighth floor.

Westfield North Bridge is an elegant specialty center anchored by the Midwest flagship Nordstrom. Popular retail stores and innovative restaurants are enclosed in a four-level concourse at 520 North Michigan Avenue.

OAK STREET

STATE STATE STREET

Experience State Street. You'll find a delightful mix of shopping, entertainment, food and fun!

The landmark State Street Retail Historic District and the surrounding area in Chicago's Loop are considered by many to be the heart of Chicago's culture and commerce.

Just south of the Chicago River, discover superb shopping, featuring not only gigantic flagship department stores like Macy's and Sears, but also Chicago's Jeweler's Row, where savvy shoppers can find diamonds, fine gems and more in the largest jewelry district in the Midwest. Other State Street shops include H & M, Nordstrom Rack, Urban Outfitters, Old Navy and Forever 21.

Throughout the year, State Street is the location of many of Chicago's parades, including the Memorial Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving Day Parades.

ARMITAGE AVENUE

Upscale one-of-a-kind boutiques along Lincoln Park's tree-lined streets generate a major shopping buzz for residents and visitors alike. Start your excursion at Halsted Street and head west on Armitage Avenue. Weekend shopping in Lincoln Park provides exciting unique purchases that will help express your individuality in designer clothes, shoes and everything in between. Some of the must see shops include the Barney's Co-Op, Lori's Shoes, Polo Rugby and Entendre Couture.

WICKER PARK / BUCKTOWN

This urban shopping destination is growing in popularity. The June 2007 edition of Vanity Fair calls Wicker Park - Bucktown shopping, "...a square mile pulsing with sassy boutiques." Visitors can shop in a gritty neighborhood and find everything from hip resale to boutique chic. Centered where Milwaukee, Damen and North Avenues intersect, walk north along Damen Avenue to Armitage Ave., providing some of the hippest boutiques selling the latest trends. Other unique one-of-a-kind shopping can be found along Milwaukee Avenue south of North Avenue, featuring discount furniture stores, antique furniture shops, trendy clothing boutiques, art galleries and unique gift shops.
